King Lear Scenes Performance

  • Adobe Rose Theatre 1213B Parkway Drive Santa Fe, NM, 87507 United States (map)
xx Lear by Rockwell Kent.jpg

King Lear call his court together to divide his kingdom between his three daughters—Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. Before he makes his bestowal, he calls on them to declare how much they love him. When Cordelia answers him with private thoughts in an all-too public setting, Lear flies into a rage and disowns her. Lear then banishes the noble Kent, his faithful friend. The other two sisters strategize about how to deal with their father.

This is a play about nature and nurture, what makes a person legitimate, how our emotions can overtake us. It has been called a play in which "no lives matter," yet despite the devastation in this tragedy there is a strong undercurrent of redemption.

Twenty three actors ages 10 to 18 will be taking multiple roles with onstage character changes. Fight Direction by Ambrose Ferber. Pre-show talk by Robin Williams.
